Solar do Castelo

Solar Do Castelo (Heritage Lisbon Hotels) è un piccolo hotel situato nel centro di Lisbona e ospitato in una palazzina costruita nella seconda metà del XVIII dentro le mura del Castello di São Jorge. Proprio dove anticamente sorgevano le cucine del Palazzo di Alcáçova e per questo tuttora conosciuta come Palazzina delle Cucine (Palacete das Cozinhas).

Con due piani e mansarda, cortile interno e giardini, questo albergo possiede vestigi medievali, come nel caso della cisterna, probabilmente appartenuti all’antico complesso. La palazzina coniuga elementi della costruzione razionalista di stile pombalino come le sobrie cornici delle finestre e del portale principale con altri caratterizzati da una maggiore libertà come nel caso dell’ornamento del muro annesso al portale della facciata principale sul quale si legge "1765", probabile anno della sua costruzione.

Trasformato in hotel con il nome di Solar Do Castelo e dichiarato di rilevante interesse storico, quest’edificio rivive oggi grazie ad un progetto contemporaneo e di alta qualità realizzato dall’architetto Vasco Massapina. L’autenticità di un hotel basata sulla storia e la memoria di un luogo da cui si è sviluppata la città di Lisbona.
Solar Do Castelo (Heritage Lisbon Hotels) is truly a romantic boutique hotel in the historic center of Lisbon. The only hotel within St. George's Castle walls it is a small mansion built in the second half of the XVIII century on the site of the kitchens of the former Alcàçova Palace.

With two floors and a mansard, an inner courtyard and garden, most part of the furniture was specially designed for the hotel in a Medieval Contemporary style. You will find welcoming rooms offering complete modern day comfort, such as free wireless access.

The mansion combines elements of the rationalist Pombaline style like the sober frames around the windows and the main gateway, with others that expressed a greater freedom, such as the elaborate design that surmounts the wall attached to the gateway in the main façade, on which you can read " 1765 ", the probable date of its construction. The mansion, which is classified as an Historic Building, has now been brought back to life by a high quality and contemporary design by the architect Vasco Massapina.
