After an extensive make over, the Taj Coral Reef Resort, reopens in August, under the new brand Vivanta. Located on Hembadhu Island, less than 32 kilometers from Male airport the hote has been refurbished and redesigned to offer an exceptional holiday experience for families and couples alike. One of the best spots for diving in the Maldives, amateurs and professionals can explore the resort’s very own house reef and shipwreck.
The redesigned accommodation is spacious, comprising 62 villas, of which two are Beach Villa Suites with private outdoor living areas. One can choose from thatched Beach Villas with large beachside porticos or the Water Villas, with private decks looking out to the lagoon. All offer unrivalled views of the sea and outdoor shower areas for private relaxation. Continuing the Taj’s tradition of culinary excellence, Executive Chef, Vikas Milhoutra has masterminded a diverse range of menus across hisrestaurants which offer regional and international flavours from light dishes to indulgent fare.

The All-Day Dining restaurant, Latitude, offers Pan-Asian flavours from the Indian Ocean. The Hembadhu Grill – an alfresco dining experience, offers an interactive Teppanyaki Grill with grilled meats and freshly rolled Sushi locally sourced from the Maldivian Reef. The grills use lava stone and traditional Indian tandoor chargrills and a poolside pizzeria chimney bakes fresh wood fired pizzas all day. Private Dinners can be arranged from within the intimate setting of the Wine Cellar to casual In-Villa barbeque evenings, with either a Chef Valet on hand or a ‘DIY BBQ’ with pre-marinated meats for guests to get involved.

The open air Reef Bar offers welcome respite from the day’s activities and an ideal spot from which to enjoy live entertainment or play board games at leisure and contemplate the tranquil island setting.
